Tricks to Get Pregnant

How Romance Novels Got Me Pregnant

I admit it… I’m a fan of hot and steamy romance novels.

A good romance book is sometimes just what you need to get your brain OUT of “Mommy Mode” and into “Woman Mode” for some baby making.

After struggling with infertility for many years, I’ve discovered that a good romance novel can be just the ticket during your TTC (trying to conceive) phase, or to keeping your marriage healthy post kids.

When you first decide to begin building a family, you are often excited. As a couple you might imagine the process to take a few months. It will be a time of candlelight and romance you dreamily tell yourself.

But then time drags by, and the negative pregnancy tests stack up. The once sweet act of trying to conceive begins to feel like a chore.

I’ve been married for ten years. My husband and I have four beautiful children together. Two of those children did not come easy.

There are times in life when you look at your partner and you have trouble remembering that there is more to your relationship outside infertility treatments, (or later) diaper changes and sippy cups.

It can be hard to feel that loving feeling. But we all know it’s important in order for a relationship to survive, or to get pregnant. Especially important if you’ve been instructed by your infertility specialist that tonight MUST be THE night, but it’s the last thing you feel like doing.

You have two options

  1. Lay there like a wet noodle and fight with your partner about it.
  2. Or… GET yourself in the mood.

If you’ve chose the latter, that means you need a MENTAL shift.

I’ve made a list of three romance authors, I adore! Should you decide to give romance novels a try.

My Top 3 Recommendations

1) Enchanted by Nancy Madore. It’s a series of erotic fairy tales that you can read individually within minutes. It’s a perfect introduction to the world of romance, if you are newbie. The book cover is also tastefully done, so it won’t disturb your toddler if they stumble upon it.

2) If you prefer Historical Romance, and a tamer version of romance, I recommend Lisa Kleypas. I think I’ve read every single one of her books, and have never been disappointed. Her writing is witty and the quick relationship introductions instantly pull me in.

3) For strong female leads and overall paranormal perfection read Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark Series. The story lines are fantastic and the mate bond stirs a primal part of my girlish soul. Just watch out — once you start on the series, it’s hard to STOP! These books kick some series butt!

These three romance authors are the best I’ve read. If you are seriously nervous about reading romance, then might I suggest the epic Twilight series. (I read it when I was 35 and LOVED them.) It’s a soft introduction to the literary world of longing and lust.

May these books help you feel the love and find some magic baby dust!
