This Easter you might want to skip the basket all together. By using Dollar Store items you can create something the Bunny would be proud of. A Dollar Store Easter Mason Jar. Here’s how to do it.
Items Needed
- Glass Jars with Lids that FIT
Any size will do. A 12 ounce jar might be too small for a stuffed animal, but great for simple jelly beans. I prefer the larger 32 ounce jars, since they provide room for layering. I used wide mouth mason jars to make it easier to stuff.
2. Plastic Easter Eggs or Ceramic Bunny
You’ll need items to paint and glue on top of your lids. I found ceramic painting sets at the Dollar Store. They had rabbits and ducks. You could use the paint that came with it, however I had some extra paint lying around my house from a previous craft project.
3. Easter Stuffers for Your Jar
Pick up some bags of candy. These gold chocolate eggs, and carrots were purchased at my local Dollar Store. I also grabbed a bag of green Easter grass.
Easy Dollar Store Easter Jar
Choose a single color. I picked a glitter green to match the grass I was stuffing into the jar. Paint the mason jar lids and your ceramic animals.
After the paint dries, use your hot glue gun to secure the bunny (or duck) to the lid.
EASY ALTERNATIVE: Hot Glue a plastic egg on to a plastic white mason jar lid.
Now it’s time to layer the inside of your jar.
I like the look of leaving a few strands of the grass sticking out of the lid. There’s no right or wrong here. The messier the better.
Plant your carrots, then add the golden eggs, and jelly beans. Heck, you could leave it like that and create a little Bunny Garden. This would be great as some new Easter Decor.
