When my family and I were working hard to pay off $98,000 in consumer debt, fitness became an essential part of our lives. I used to strap the kids into baby carriers and head out for long walks, often through beautiful national parks. These walks weren’t just good for my physical health—they gave me the mental clarity and peace I needed to stay focused on our financial goals. And when I had the chance, I’d hop on my bike for a ride, feeling the stress melt away with every mile. Those simple, frugal activities became a lifeline during a challenging time.
