Can’t get outside? Keeping your toddler busy (and you sane) takes some thought. Or not! Sometimes it’s simple to create a few Indoor Toddler Energy Busters that are sure to get those little bodies moving for maximum giggles and energy burn.
All you need is some pillows.
I’ve compile a short list of quick and dirty indoor toddler energy busters that we’ve used to keep our 4 kids active, while still inside our small home. Each require only minutes of setup, and are absolutely free.
3 Toddler Energy Busters for Those High Energy Indoor Days
1. PUPPY PILE
Make a LARGE pile of BIG pillows on the floor. Instruct your kids to run, run, run at the pile and fall flat on their face into the soft pillows. Trust me. It sounds bizarre written out, but they will have a blast. They’ll run back and forth into the “puppy pile”. All the better of you have multiple children and they all run at the same time.
2. GRAND PRIX JUMP OFF
Lay pillows or rolled up blankets on the floor and prepare for the “horse” show. Tell your little ones to JUMP over the jumps like they’re in the ring competing in a jump off. Clap and carry on from the comfort of your front row sofa seat. Come up with wacky horse names for them and play the part of Announcer. BONUS: By the end of the “show” your little horses will be all tuckered out.
3. PEEK-A-BOO DADDY
Put your heavy coat on and head outside. ALONE! That’s right. Send your partner outside to look in the window. Better yet, ask him to JUMP up and down outside the window. Perhaps he can do this when he gets home from work, before he heads into the house. For some reason my toddlers thought this was hilarious and cracked up for a good 15-20 minutes, allowing me to get the table set for dinner.
