The morning after Halloween, I sat the kids down on the sofa and dropped the bad news. Mommy ate all their Halloween candy. Oops! Sorry. Their reaction was NOT what I expected. Here’s our Jimmy Kimmel Halloween Candy Challenge YouTube video.
Despite the tears, the kids have asked me to replay the video over and over and over again. In fact I think perhaps ALL the views are from my darling three dears, who are sporting only happy tears now.
The Jimmy Kimmel Halloween Challenge
Jimmy Kimmel sets the challenge to parents every year. The morning after Halloween, setup a secret hidden camera or boldly film your conversation. Being a YouTuber, my kids didn’t bat an eye at my camera.
Next, put on your BEST poker (or guilty) face and tell your kids you ATE ALL their Halloween candy!
Some kids will cry, some will yell, some will throw things and some will laugh in your face. My suggestion is to not let the game go on overly long . No matter what the reaction, be sure to tell them sooner rather than later that it’s A JOKE. No one wants to see true childhood heartbreak for more than 30 seconds.
My six-year-old daughter knew immediately that was a joke. She wasn’t buying it at all. This is likely due to the fact that her Daddy is always joking around with her. She’s not easily fooled!
My three-year old twins had opposite reactions. One cried, and one gave me the evil eye. I’m fairly certain if I’d continued with the charade that evil eye would have traveled down to his mouth and fists and things might have gotten ugly.
Thankfully their older sister’s laughter put the smiles back on their faces very quickly. Thank goodness for older siblings. The Jimmy Kimmel Halloween Candy Challenge was a good time, and a fun memory for my kids and I.
